Bus Driver

Rotates driving one of four (4) Elk Grove Township buses (passenger units equipped with handicap lifts) within Township boundaries. Hours of operation for the Senior and Disabled Transportation Department are 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. This is a full-time position with the opportunity to work 40 hrs/week by assisting the Township Food Pantry with Food Rescue. Reports to the Transportation Manager and works closely with the transportation team that books reservations and coordinates the daily transportation process. Day-to-Day Operations: Review itinerary each day prior to the start of route by logging into tablet. Transport all senior citizens & disabled passengers requesting trips to dialysis, doctor appointments, shopping, senior centers, special trips, etc. Assist in coordinating passenger pick-up times and return trips home Keep Administrative personnel informed of any concerns with all passengers’ health and their ability to travel (i.e. – ambulatory, confused, etc.) Assist with Food Pantry pickups 3 days a week for Food Rescue. Safety Training: Complete training for First Aid and CPR/Defibrillator use Trained on passenger safety: handicap lift on all Township vehicles, including use of restraints for wheelchair hook-up(s) Maintenance: Perform safety checks (oil levels, conditions of tires, brake lights, mirrors, directionals, emergency brake) on the bus each morning before beginning route to ensure all are in good working order and communicate any safety/maintenance issues Fueling buses and recording usage amounts for financial record-keeping Responsible for periodic bus cleaning throughout the year Skills: Excellent communication skills Able to interact with diverse groups of people Capable of following established rules & guidelines of transportation program Requirements: Hold a CDL with a ‘P’ (passenger) endorsement and keep CDL current Temperament to work with seniors and disabled bus passengers Other: Duties that may be assigned, such as assisting with creating daily bus routes, occasional office work, distributing approved Township information to bus riders, and being versed in other Township assistance programs Elk Grove Township does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, or handicap and complies with the provisions of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act.

Communications & Outreach Manager

Position Overview: The Township is seeking a full-time Communications & Outreach Coordinator to lead and support our digital communications strategy while assisting with planning and execution of township outreach events. This position plays a key role in increasing public awareness, strengthening community engagement, and ensuring clear, accessible communication across digital platforms and in-person events. Qualified applicants should be independent and communications-savvy, with a special focus on social media, electronic communications, and website management. Applicants should also have strong writing and editing skills. Previous communications, social media management, and/or design experience are strongly preferred. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Develop, create, and manage content for digital media platforms: Facebook Instagram LinkedIn  YouTube X (Twitter) Create and curate content in real time, when applicable. Monitor and respond to general community inquiries, comments, and direct messages across Township social media platforms to ensure timely and professional public engagement. Write, edit, and update digital content for the township’s electronic communications and digital displays to effectively communicate township programs, services, and announcements. Produce multimedia content including videos, GIFs, graphics, photos, and audio pieces to appear on social media, website, and digital displays. Track and analyze social media engagement and digital communication metrics to inform strategy and improve outreach effectiveness. Maintain and update digital communication tools such as social media link management (e.g., Linktree) and platform integrations. Support planning, coordination, and promotion of township events, workshops, and outreach initiatives. Attend and assist at community events, including setup, engagement, and follow-up communications. Assist in the development, design, and distribution of township publications, including: Monthly internal newsletter Food Pantry newsletter Electronic newsletters and community updates Assist the Director of Communications & Outreach in updating and creating written communications and department collateral materials such as flyers, web pages, department signage, etc. Maintain organized records and inventory of communication and outreach materials, including event supplies, branded apparel, and promotional inventory. Capture and edit photos/videos from Township events, programs, and services. Participate in special projects as assigned. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: Experience in social media data analysis and using data to inform strategic planning and posting. Demonstrated proficiency in video/audio/photo editing and capture, graphic design, and mobile phone photo and video capabilities. Expert-level familiarities with social media platforms, like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, data analysis, and strategy. Ability to update website content. Strong sense of design and layout organization. Ability to create and edit text from source material using appropriate style and format. Capability to manage several projects in an efficient and effective manner with minimal supervision. Strong time management, organizational skills, dependable and attention oriented. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of the English language’s structure and content, including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Ability to work in departmental and cross-departmental teams. Education, Experience, and Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including but not limited to Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to use Canva and other design platforms to create content. Special Requirements: Previous communications experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work in departmental and cross-departmental teams. Dependable and detail oriented. Credentials and Experience: High school diploma. Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or other related field is preferred.
