The 2016 Fall Simply Give program runs through September 24 at the Rolling Meadows Meijer and benefits the Township Food Pantry.
Meijer and Elk Grove Township have partnered to help stock the shelves of the Township Food Pantry. Now through September 24, 2016, the ‘Fall Simply Give Program’ will raise funds so that essential items can be available to in-need Township residents.
Shoppers at the Rolling Meadows Meijer store can choose to donate to the program at check-out, and 100-percent of the donation will be given to Elk Grove Township to purchase needed items for the food pantry.
“Our community has been very generous when it comes to donating to our food pantry; unfortunately, need has also gone up over the last several months,” said Elk Grove Township Supervisor Mike Sweeney. “We are very grateful for this new partnership with Meijer to help us meet the needs of our Township residents.”
‘Double Match Days’ will be held during the program, and will coincide with Hunger Action Day on Thursday, September 1.
From September 1-September 3, shoppers who donate $10 will have their donation ‘double matched’ – so for every $10 contributed by shoppers, $20 additional dollars will be donated to the Township by Meijer.
Instead of Meijer choosing what food and other items to donate to the Township Food Pantry, the Simply Give Program allows the flexibility to give the funds to the Township so that it can purchase the most needed items, which are many times protein sources.
