The community-based program offers outreach and referral services to combat veterans and their families at the Elk Grove Township Arlington Heights location.

Elk Grove Township recently partnered with the Evanston-based Vet Center Program. The program’s mission is to offer quality readjustment counseling for veterans who have served in a combat zone; services are also offered to their families.

“We have a deep gratitude for the service and sacrifice that combat veterans, and their families make for the sake of our freedoms,” said Mike Sweeney, Elk Grove Township Supervisor. “It is vitally important for Elk Grove Township to offer these types of services to benefit them in their time of need.”

Timothy Heiney, an LCSW and former member of the U.S. Navy will be providing counseling and referral services at the Township.

“Veterans are encouraged to take advantage of these counseling services, which can assist with PTSD and other mental health-related issues,” Heiney said.

Services will be offered on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Elk Grove Township, 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.

Veterans and their families are welcome to walk in, but appointments are strongly preferred. Please contact the Vet Center at 847-332-1019 and ask to speak with Timothy Heiney to make an appointment.
