There are many opportunities for businesses and organizations to help in-need Township residents.

“Empowering People Through Community” is the core philosophy at Elk Grove Township. In light of the meaning behind this message, Township officials are encouraging members of the community to get involved.

There are a number of opportunities for businesses and organizations to give back to the Elk Grove Township community.

Sponsor a Food Drive

DriveBusiness owners and other community leaders can sponsor a food drive to help local residents in their time of need. Many times throughout the year, specific items become scarce in the Elk Grove Township Food Pantry. Business owners can identify those items and choose a two-week time frame to collect items from employees and customers. They are then asked to schedule a time to drop off the donations at the Township, by calling 224-222-0944.

Post Job Openings

Employers can reach local job seekers by providing an 8.5 x 11 flyer with job opening(s), which includes all of the details about the position. This information will be shared for as long as is needed on the Community Resource Board, and with theEmployment Support Center. This service is free and available to employers throughout the Chicagoland area. Email to lmenich@elkgrovetownship.com.

Donate Services/Gift Cards to Those In-Need

Individuals who seek help from General Assistance are many times going through a unique and difficult period in their lives. Donating services such as haircuts, oil-changes and tax preparation are helpful to these people, in addition to gift cards for groceries and other supplies such as toiletries.
Monetary donations can also be accepted for families who may not qualify for certain programs offered by the Township.

Back to School Blast Off!

It may seem a little early to be thinking about school supplies, but there’s a lot that goes into preparing students for a successful school year!

Back to school brings with it the excitement of the new school year, but also a financial strain for parents trying to provide all the necessary items for their student to thrive.   Working in collaboration with School District 59 administration, we have identified families in the district that are struggling financially.    Elk Grove Township wants to assist those families in getting their students off to a great start— But, WE NEED YOUR HELP!

This summer, look for “Back to School Blast Off” boxes around the community, purchase new school supplies and drop them off.  Together, we can make sure every student has what they need as we LAUNCH into a new school year!

Participate in Holiday/Seasonal Programs

During the holiday period, Elk Grove Township supports programs aimed at helping in-need individuals and families during a stressful time of the year. Businesses and organizations are invited to participate in one of the following programs:

Thanksgiving Baskets: all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal are donated and placed in baskets that are given to those who are determined to have need by the General Assistance department. The baskets are distributed prior toThanksgiving Day.

Operation Christmas: In-need families are identified by the Township General Assistance office caseworkers.  Residents and businesses, which are also known as Santa’s Helpers, donate gift certificates to parents who can then purchase holiday gifts of their choosing for their children.

Snow Angels: Elk Grove Township started this program in 2015, in partnership with CCSD59 and several area churches and businesses. It was created to garner donations of snow pants and snow boots so that in-need children at CCSD 59cankeep warm, and participate in recess.

Businesses and organizations also can be featured in the Elk Grove Township newsletter, which reaches 40,000 homes and 5,000 businesses. For more information on how to get involved, please call 847-437-0300.
