Elk Grove Township is hosting a Job Fair with a dozen area companies looking to fill open positions on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. The fair will be held in the Elk Grove Township Town Hall room at 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights. Job seekers are advised to dress professionally and to bring a resume.
The event also will include an employment seminar from 10:30 a.m. until noon entitled, “Creating a Dynamic Resume” presented by Bob Podgorski of RPP Enterprises, who manages the Employment Support Center at Elk Grove Township. The center opened in 2016 and provides ongoing assistance with networking, job campaigns, interview skills and resume help for Elk Grove Township residents who need help finding work. The Employment Support Center is part of an initiative created by Elk Grove Township Supervisor Mike Sweeney, whose goal is to empower in-need residents by providing resources to help them become independent whenever it is possible.
“Elk Grove Township’s mission is to ‘empower people through community’. One of the ways in which we seek to achieve this goal is by providing opportunities for our residents to find better, suitable, and sustaining employment,” Sweeney said.
In addition to the Employment Support Center, local job listings are also posted on the Community Resource Board in the front foyer at Elk Grove Township during normal business hours.
Companies that will be present at the Job Fair include: Cabela’s, Express Employment Professionals, Magnetic Inspection Laboratory, Inc., Staffmark, Manpower, UPS, Comfort Keepers, New York Life, Avis Budget, Grand Prairie Transit, Thrivent Financial and Gere Marie. Representatives from each of the businesses plan to speak to potential candidates and set up job interviews.
The Job Fair will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. and the seminar will run from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Individuals can register for free at www.Eventbrite.com by searching: Elk Grove Township. Elk Grove Township job seekers can also contact the Employment Support Center at 224-222-0935.
