On March 1, 2016, Elk Grove Township debuted a new Employment Support Center, which will be staffed weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The center is part of an overall support and service offering plan at the Township, which includes general assistance that temporarily helps residents through difficult financial times, in addition to a Community Resource Board that highlights local job opportunities, in addition to throughout the Chicagoland area.
“Our goal is to empower residents to ultimately find gainful employment whenever it is possible” said Mike Sweeney, Elk Grove Township Supervisor. “Part of this effort includes creating a connection between employers and those who are seeking job opportunities.”
Businesses looking to hire people are encouraged to reach out to Elk Grove Township to have their openings posted on the Community Resource Board, by emailing LMenich@ElkGroveTownship.com.
Among the offerings at the Employment Support Center are assistance with networking, job campaigns, interview skills and resumes. The center is run by Bob Podgorski of RPP Enterprises.
“Our objective is to reconnect Township residents with the world of purposeful work, which helps them to regain self-esteem and adds new meaning to their lives,” Podgorski said.
Computer work stations are available for job seekers during normal hours of operation at the Elk Grove Township building, 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.
Half hour and one hour appointments are available for employment counseling. To schedule an appointment to meet with a counselor, please email JobHelp@ElkGroveTownship or call 224-222-0935.
The Employment Support Center is open to all Township residents, whether they are unemployed, under-employed, or those who are currently working but seeking new opportunities.
